There's a punk venue in Berkley, California that is so punk, it bans bands from playing there if they ever do anything not punk. Like sign to a major record label, for example. That's what got Green Day banned from 924 Gilman in the early 1990's. The venue made a rare exception for a secret show by the mainstream punkers to raise money for AK Press, the anarchist publishers whose business has been in jeopardy after a recent warehouse fire. There are articles about it at Paste and Stereogum.
